It’s no secret that women find humor sexy. Ask any woman what kind of man he’s looking for, and 9 out of 10 she’ll say she wants someone who can make her laugh. That’s because no woman wants to be with a man who is serious and stiff all the time. She wants someone who knows how to have a good time, and how to make her feel good about herself.
Being able to make women laugh is a sign of social adeptness in a man. A man who can tell a good story, or laugh at himself is a measure of strength and maturity. You will see that men who can tell a funny story well are the ones always surrounded by people.
Humor isn’t just about making someone laugh – it’s really about making someone feel good about themselves. This is why there’s such a thing as bad humor which happens when you end up being offensive. When you look at it this way, you don’t have to be good at telling jokes to make someone feel good.
A lot of men think they’re not particularly funny, or particularly good at telling jokes. But you see, humor, like anything else, is a learned skill. Of course, some men will have a natural talent for humor. If you are one of them, good for you. But for those who are average in the humor department, here are some tips to help you make women laugh:
- Smile. When you smile at someone, it’s nearly impossible for that person not to smile back. This is a great way to make women immediately feel at ease when with you.
- Build your repertoire. Just like a stand up comic, to be able to have an appropriate funny story to share in every occasion, you need to start building a repertoire of funny stories. Take note of jokes and stories that you think are funny.
- Funny true stories. It’s not just jokes and anecdotes that make good material. Funny things that happen to you, or remarking on situations that are funny to you are great ways to add a touch personality and truth to your humor.
- Laugh at your own jokes. When you recount a joke or a story, laugh freely. When you laugh, you invite other people to laugh with you.
- Learn how to salvage failed jokes. Prepare a comeback move for jokes or stories that didn’t quite make it. Something like… “And that’s why I opted to become a banker!”.
- Don’t ever tell jokes at the expense of other people. This is never in good taste. You risk offending your audience. And even if you don’t, you will be perceived as someone who talks ill of other people.
